MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Gerald F. Branick, on February 25,2014, at the age of seventy-six; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on February 6,1938, Gerald was the loving husband of Barbara, nee Lindberg; loving father of Time (Allison), Jeff, Dan (Mary), Tom (Lincolnshire PD) and the late Nancy; treasured Grandpa of Briana, Jamie, Peter, Anthony, Melissa, Alexandra, Katie, Mackenzie, Brian, Jenna and Kelly; cherished brother of James, Mary, Marge and Dennis. Gerald leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Gerald retired as a thirty year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 7. He was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit.
 
WHEREAS, Gerald will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Gerald F. Branick and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald F. Branick. \r)
