RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Edward H. Marsalek is celebrating his 90 birthday, with the past seventy years in the Lakeview Community; and,
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by Alderman Thomas M. Tunney; and,
WHEREAS, Edward H. Marsalek was born on July 22, 1924 in Chicago to a family including 5 siblings; and,
WHEREAS Ed is a proud graduate of Prescott Elementary School, Lane Tech High School, University of Houston, Wright Junior College and John Marshall Law School; and,
WHEREAS, as a proud Marine, Ed served in the South Pacific during World War II; and,
WHEREAS, Ed married the love of his life, Ann in 1960 and together they raised their three children - Diann is a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County, Carolyn works for American Airlines and Edward who is a chef; and,
WHEREAS, Edward began his career as an Assistant Attorney General, then continuing on to the Illinois Toll Highway Authority. Ed was a partner at Marsalek and Lusak, a private practice firm. Not one to rest on his laurels, Edward became a Judge in 1976, where he was assigned to the Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations and First Municipal, retiring in 1999 as the Supervising Judge in Housing Court; and,
WHEREAS, as the devoted Grandfather to Nick, Alex and Peter, Ed loves spending time with his grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, Ed's love of community service, which continued on for seven decades, as he was active the 44th Ward Democratic organization serving as an officer and committed volunteer to his marine groups and various civic groups; and,
WHEREAS, these days, if Ed is not up in Wisconsin where he spends much of his time with his family, you could find Ed doing crosswords and watching his favorite TV Shows; and,
WHEREAS, Ed's love of life and his ability to live it to the fullest, endears Ed to his family, friends and all who know him, and enables him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now therefore,
