CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER

RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

WHEREAS, On June 19, 2015 Crossing Guard, Darlene Barksdale, retired from the Chicago Police Department following ten years of dedicated public service: and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward: and

WHEREAS, Crossing Guard, Darlene Barksdale, Star #50207 began her illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department on September 6, 2005 and retired as a valued member of the 6th District. Her presence will be sorely missed; and

WHEREAS, Crossing Guards have the very essential job of ensuring the safety of students traveling to and from school. Not only do they stand out in the rain, sleet and snow, these crossing guards have an important role in protecting the lives of our children; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Barksdale devoted 10 years of her life in public service to the people she served in the 18th Ward and 6* Police District; and

WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Crossing Guard, Darlene Barksdale; now, therefore

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of November, 2015, do hereby express our gratitude for ten years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Darlene Barksdale; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Darlene Barksdale and her family.
