RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, USA Archery held its 133rd National Outdoor Championships in Westfield, Indiana from August 2 through August 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The event drew more than 1,000 archers from all over the country competing in various divisions, bow types and styles; and
WHEREAS, One of the stars to emerge from the competition was 15-year-old Olivia Artz from Chicago who competed in the Female Cadet Barebow Division; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Artz earned her first Gold Medal of the competition by breaking a national record with a two-day score of 859; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Artz also earned a second Gold Medal by defeating her opponent 6-2; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Artz then participated in the team competition and helped to win a third gold medal; and
WHEREAS, The competition marked Olivia Artz's.-- first National Outdoor competition; and
WHEREAS, Due to her outstanding performance, Olivia Artz was named the 2017 USA Archery Female Cadet Barebow National Champion; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Artz is the current 2017 Illinois Indoor State Champion and holds multiple cadet barebow titles and records in Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The competitive spirit, skill and hard work of Olivia Artz serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of September, 2017, do hereby congratulate Olivia Artz on becoming the 2017 USA Archery Female Cadet Barebow National Champion and do herby express our best wishes for her continued success and achivement; and
