RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Andrew "Andy" Pafko has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-two; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Andrew "Andy" Pafko was a legendary Major League Baseball player and the loving husband of the late Ellen M., nee Kapusta; and
WHEREAS, Nicknamed "Handy Andy," Andrew "Andy" Pafko was a five-time All-Star and played in four World Series with three different teams; and
WHEREAS, During a seventeen-year career, Andrew "Andy" Pafko played with the Chicago Cubs from 1943 to 1951, the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1951 to 1952 and the Milwaukee Braves from 1953 to 1959; and
WHEREAS, After retiring as a player, Andrew "Andy" Pafko later managed teams in the minor leagues; and
WHEREAS, Andrew "Andy" Pafko lived for much of his life in Chicago and, most recently, in Bridgman, Michigan; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, talent and dedication of Andrew "Andy"; Pafko serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Andrew "Andy" Pafko to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Andrew "Andy" Pafko will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Andrew "Andy" Pafko imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of October, 2013, do hereby commemorate Andrew "Andy" Pafko for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Andrejw "Andy" Pafko. /
