RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called William H. Taylor Jr., fondly called "Hank" a most beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend devoted servant and community advocate, to his eternal reward on Monday, August 14, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Gregory I. Mitchell, Alderman of the 7th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Jeffery Manor Community, to William and Thelma Taylor, William was the second of four children born to this union. William attended and graduated from Luella Elementary School and Bowen High School. William was known for his humor, enormous smile and love for the community. Immediately following high school, William attended Southern A&M University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for two years and majored in accounting; and
WHEREAS, William met lifelong friend Jeannie Watson at the age 10. After beginning a long-term relationship as teenagers, they were blessed with a daughter Tanya Alisia, in 1984. In 1988, William married Deatrice Ivory. Their first child, Cherece Linn, was born in 1989 and their second child, De'Anna Patrice was born in 1991. He loved his grandchildren unconditionally; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, William returned to Chicago and the Jeffery Manor Community and began working for Corn Products International as a Clerk and later was promoted to Railroad Conductor. While there, William became a proud graduate of Chicago State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 2000. He was also a union trustee and representative from 1996-2004, first for the Oil Chemical & Atomic Workers International Union Local 7-507, where his responsibilities included managing a $1 million dollar annual budget and later, for the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Pace Local 6-0507;and
WHEREAS, In 1992, William accepted Christ and joined Evangelistic Crusaders Church of God in Christ. He was ordained as ...
