RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-two; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner was a retired Illinois lawmaker and the loving husband of Jo Ann Mullen-Regner; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan, nee Scanlan, his second wife, Joyce, nee LeFarie, and his son, David M.; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner was the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of four; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Honorable David J. Regner graduated from DePaul University and worked as an insurance broker and an auditor for Elk Grove Township; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner David J Regner served with distinction as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1967 to 1972 and as a State Senator from 1973 to 1980; and
 
WHEREAS, An army veteran of the Korean Conflict, the Honorable David J. Regner was the 1980 Chairman of the Illinois Reagan Delegate Committee; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable David J. Regner serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable David J. Regner will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable David J. Regner imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable David J. Regner for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable David J. Regner.
