WHEREAS, Wally Gusich, a widely admired Chicago citizen, celebrating the joyful occasion of his 90th Birthday was born to Andrew and Stefania Gusich on October 1, 1928; and wonderful brother to Marion, William, Agnes, Ann, Theresa, Helen and Betty; and the same year Mickey Mouse was born; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and

WHEREAS, A true gentleman of extraordinary integrity and intellect; Wally Gusich exemplifies the power of human resolve, perseverance, and faith; and

WHEREAS, Wally Gusich attended McClellan Elementary School graduating in January of 1942; and attended Tilden Tech High School graduating in January 1946; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Wally Z. Gusich was inducted 27 June 1948 and transferred to the Army Reserve 28 June 1950 and was Honorably Discharged from the Army of the United States on the 27th day of June 1955; and

WHEREAS, Above all else, Walter Gusich married the love of his life Grace, (nee Jauregui) on May 23, 1953; and has enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage; Grace passed away on October 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, During their long and fruitful marriage, the couple was blessed with three children, Cindy, Mark and Greg! and
WHEREAS, The much-respected patriarch of his family Walter Gusich is the grandfather of six; Theresa, Dana, Juliann, Gino, Mark and Taylor, and great­grandfather of two; Giovanni and Lorenzo! and

WHEREAS, Wally Gusich started employment in April 1946 at Comiskey Park as a Vendor at a Hot Dog Stand; February 1947 employed by Mack Truck Motor Corporation; June 1948 was a Supply Clerk and Personnel Clerk for the U.S. Army; February 1951 worked for Friction Materials Corporation; June 1957 worked for the Chicago Park District at the Adler Planetarium, as well as; The City of Chicago Sign Division; 11th Ward ...
