TRIBUTE TO STEVE STARR
WHEREAS, Steve Starr, a Chicago icon and multi-talented entrepreneur, who was a pillar of Chicago society, has passed away November 12, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Steve Starr has photographed everything from fashion shows and charity events to private Gold Coast parties. He has photographed hundreds of celebrities including Beyonce Knowles, Debra Messing, Janet Jackson, Mario Lopez, Dionne Warwick, Jim Belushi, Mickey Rooney, Robert Davi, Tony Curtis, Jamie Foxx, Victor Skrebneski, Ernie Banks, Fergie, Rita Moreno, Richard Dent and, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan; and
WHEREAS, The poet Robert Burns once wrote that "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray". Steve Starr was exactly one month away from producing "The Face of News" celebrating the 45th anniversary of his "Steve Starr Studios", the Art Deco store he ran before becoming a photographer eight years ago; and
WHEREAS, Victor Skrebneski, who is himself a legendary photographer, graciously stepped in to help produce the one-night show that took place on December 12, 2012, a tribute and a fundraiser to preserve the photographic works of Steve Starr; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 17th Day of January, 2013 AD, do hereby express our profound shock and sorrow upon learning of the sudden passing of Steve Starr and express our sincerest condolences to his family as well as the thousands of friends and fans whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Steve Starr.
