MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Rufus Taylor, most beloved citizen to his eternal reward on December 2, 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Raymond A. Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on February 28, 1941 to the union of the Ruben and Annie Lee Taylor. Rufus is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruben and Annie Lee and two brothers, Otis and Ruben; Rufus accepted Christ at an early age; and

WHEREAS, Rufus was employed with the Sherriff s Department until his retirement, leaving a legacy of a hardworking, dedicated employee and sorely missed by his colleagues. In his spare time he relished working on cars; and

WHEREAS, Rufus leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of many years, Earlene; adoring children, Walter, Otis, Christeen and Rufus, Jr. (Liz); his precious grandchildren and great grandchildren; loving sisters, Ethel, Emma, Jean, Earnestine, Catherine and brothers, Lee Henry, Albert and Otha B; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends; and

WHEREAS, Rufus, touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, and his spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him, now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this tenth day of February, 2016 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Rufus Taylor and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

 

Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Rufus Taylor, as a token of our honor, gratitude and respect.
