Chicago City Council October 14, 2021
RESOLUTION HONORING PUERTO RICAN OLYMPIAN JASMINE CAMACHO-QUINN
WHEREAS, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is a decorated Olympian and embodies the spirit of perseverance, grit, and is an honorable representative the Puerto Rican and Latino communities; and,
WHEREAS, on August 1, 2021 Jasmine Camacho-Quinn won gold in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, winning the first track and field gold medal in Puerto Rico's history; and,
WHEREAS, on July 31, 2021 Jasmine Camacho-Quinn set an Olympic record while running in the 100-meter semi-finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games; and,
WHEREAS, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is a role model for the entire City of Chicago, Puerto Rico and the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago values, encourages and embraces sports and competition; and,
WHEREAS, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will be honored with an award by the Chicago Latina Expo on Saturday, October 2, 2021; and,
WHEREAS, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn has taught all Americans, Puerto-Ricans and the Latino communities that hard work and resolve create champions; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago whom will gather on the 14th Day of October, 2021, do hereby honor Jasmine Camacho-Quinn for her dedication and passion for her sport, country, and community; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Jasmine Camacho-Quinn as a token of our respect and of our best wishes for continued success.
