RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Anne Berry, the Principal of the Ridge Early Childhood Center in Oak Forest, has been named Principal of the Year by the South Cook Region of the Illinois Principal's Association; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, By receiving this prestigious honor, Anne Berry will represent the South Cook Region and compete in the Illinois Principal's Association's statewide competition for Principal of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Raised in St. Rita Parish on the Southwest Side, Anne Berry worked for the Chicago Park District on recreational programs for special needs children at Gage Park and participated in the original Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, Anne Berry began her long and illustrious career in education as a parochial school teacher for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Anne Berry later joined Evergreen Park School District 124 and Palos Park District 118; and

WHEREAS, For the past eight years, Anne Berry has served as Principal of the Ridge Early Childhood Center where she has won praise for her leadership skills in the area of childhood development; and

WHEREAS, The Ridge Early Childhood Center houses a birth through 3rd grade program that includes a pre-school, early childhood and kindergarten all under one roof; and

WHEREAS, Anne Berry has written numerous grant applications that have brought critical funding to the school and helped to ensure the delivery of continued high-quality educational programs; and

WHEREAS, Anne Berry recently announced that she plans to retire on June 30, 2014, following twenty-eight years of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, Although Anne Berry is retiring, her legacy of professional excellence will continue on at the Ridge Early Childhood Center for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Anne Berry serve as an example to all; now, therefore
