MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR JOHN S. SNEED, JR.

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of John S. Sneed, jr. at the age of 57; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, John was the beloved husband of Wendy, nee Walker; loving father of Emilia, Avery and jane Sneed; dear son of Dolores Sneed and the late John S. Sneed, Sr.; fond brother of Anthony (Michelle), William (Maty), Thomas (Elisabet) and Joseph (Alexandra) Sneed; and an uncle, nephew, cousin, and treasured friend to many; and

 

WHEREAS, A graduate of Loyola Academy, Miami University, and the University of Chicago, John was an avid fisherman who loved the Northwoods and baseball. He was also an active member of the Queen of All Saints Basilica in Chicago's Sauganash Community where he enjoyed being a parishioner for many years; and

 

WHEREAS, John was vital mainstay of his Sauganash neighborhood, making many lasting contributions in the lives of local families and children. He was an active member and an officeholder of many community organizations, including the Sauganash Community Association and the Sauganash Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, John touched the lives of all who knew him through his love and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this first day of November, 2016, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. John Sneed Jr.; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Mr. John Sneed Jr. as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
