RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Charcey Glenn has gone to her eternal reward at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Leeds, Alabama, Charcey Glenn was the loving mother of National Basketball Association Hall of Fame superstar Charles Barkley; and
WHEREAS, The beloved daughter of the late Charles Gaiter and Johnnie Mickens, Charcey Glenn graduated from Moton High School in 1962; and
WHEREAS, A civic leader and active member of her community, Charcey Glenn ably served as the Chair of the Leeds Water Works Board; and
WHEREAS, Known for her vibrant personality and optimistic spirit, Charcey Glenn was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Leeds; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Charcey Glenn serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Charcey Glenn was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her devoted sons, Charles and John, and her six adoring granddaughters, Charcey Glenn imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby commemorate Charcey Glenn for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
