RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Carol L. Cavanaugh has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A public servant revered for her hard work ethic and loyalty, Carol L. Cavanaugh served under some of Chicago's most prominent and influential elected officials during her long and highly distinguished tenure at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, Raised in the Beverly community, Carol L. Cavanaugh was the daughter of Joseph C. and Aileen E. and the dear sister of Joseph, Sue, Robert and the late Janet and Barbara; and
WHEREAS, Carol L. Cavanaugh attended the Academy of Our Lady High School and followed in the footsteps of her Chicago police officer father by pursuing a career in public service; and
WHEREAS, Carol L. Cavanaugh joined the City of Chicago in 1966 as a senior stenographer in the Purchasing Department; and
WHEREAS, In 1968 Carol L. Cavanaugh was hired by the City Council Committee on Finance to work as an examiner, a role she held under both Chairmen Thomas E. Keane and Michael A. Bilandic; and
WHEREAS, In 1977 Carol L. Cavanaugh joined the staff of then-Mayor Bilandic and two years later was named an administrative assistant at the Committee on Zoning by Chairman Edward R. Vrdolyak; and
WHEREAS, From 1983 until 1998, except for a brief hiatus, Carol L. Cavanaugh served at the Committee on Finance where she was the secretary of Chairman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Following thirty years of government service, Carol L. Cavanaugh retired from the Committee on Finance in June of 1998, but throughout the years that followed maintained many of the friendships she had made working at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, During her summer vacations, Carol L. Cavanaugh loved to spend time in Minocqua, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing; and
