SALUTE TO REVEREND DONALD M. MCFADDEN. SR.
WHEREAS, The Reverend Donald M. McFadden, Sr., an outstanding spiritual leader and member of his community, is celebrating his 20th year as Pastor of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church on this city's West Side; and
WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden was ordained and licensed as a minister in 1986. A graduate of John Marshall High School with a BA in Behavioral Sciences from National Louis University, he is pursuing Masters level studies in Divinity at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Over the two decades he has been the shepherd at St. Joseph, Reverend McFadden has established a Vacation Bible School, a Food Pantry, a Summer Food program and a Back to School supplies project. Twice a year, he organizes a clothing giveaway and, every Thanksgiving, dinner is served to the community; and
WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden has assisted in getting liquor stores closed that have proliferated in the community and partners with the Chicago Police Department to help deter crime and violence in the neighborhoods served by the church.
WHEREAS, Reverend McFadden is blessed with a helpmate, his wife Sharon. Their union has been blessed with five children - Wendell, Tiffany, Donald, Jr., Talitha and Terri as well as three grandchildren - Maurice, Clive, Jr. and Courtney; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the significant milestone achieved by this noteworthy pastor; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 13lh Day of March, 2013 AD, do hereby salute Reverend Donald M. McFadden, Sr. on his 20 years of praiseworthy and devoted service to the congregation of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church and express our very best wishes for continuing success in fulfilling his mission.
