RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On April 12, 2017, Korean War veteran Anthony S. Maruszak, a widely respected resident of the Garfield Ridge community, will join 110 other veterans in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Honor Flight Chicago believes that the American veteran is one of our greatest treasures; and
WHEREAS, The trip offers veterans the opportunity to fly for a day at no charge to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials and participate in ceremonies aimed at recognizing their brave and valiant service; and
WHEREAS, Anthony S. Maruszak enlisted in to the United States Army in March of 1953 and served his country in Korea until February of 1953 when he was honorably discharged with a rank of Private First Class; and
WHEREAS, Anthony S. Maruszak is a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze service star; and s
WHEREAS, Anthony S. Maruszak is a Legacy Life Member of V.F.W. Post #2729 which is located at 5858 Archer Avenue in the 14*h Ward of the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Veterans returning from the trip will be greeted by a ceremony at the baggage claim level upon their return from the Honor Flight at Midway Airport; and
WHEREAS, This patriotic salute is intended to exemplify the true expression of appreciation that Chicagoans hold in their hearts for our military veterans; and
WHEREAS, The sacrifice and service of our military veterans have guaranteed the freedom that each and every American enjoys today; now, therefore
BE- IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude to Anthony S. Maruszak for his courageous service on behalf of our nation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Anthony S. Maruszak.
