Resolution in Honor of Gregory L. Driskell
WHEREAS, Gregory L. Driskell was an active, dedicated and regular supporter of the improvement of the Oakwood Boulevard community; and
WHEREAS, Gregory L. Driskell was a dedicated Army veteran, family member, friend, confidante and historian in his community; and
WHEREAS, Gregory L. Driskell was a well respected and beloved figure in the Oakwood Boulevard community, in which he resided for nearly 20 years. He was also known for bringing the community closer together and for his careful attention to the beautification of Oakwood Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Not only is this a loss of a devoted friend and neighbor, but also a confident counselor and a close friend. He was a person who was always available to share an encouraging word and demonstrate strong support; and
WHEREAS, That Gregory L. Driskell was a mentor and a source of inspiration to many youth and others as he was a role model and father figure for many of our neighborhood youth through the activities of his not-for profit organization, "Jobs in the Hood, Inc."; and
WHEREAS, That we embrace the family of Gregory L. Driskell because all of us have a common bond that will connect us for the rest of our lives. We cannot replace Gregory L. Driskell; and now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the City Council members of the City of Chicago hereby assembled on this the 6th day of May, 2015, A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Gregory L. Driskell, recognize his many contributions to the City of Chicago and his community, and extend to his family our sincere condolences; and
