MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom and Judgment has called to his Eternal Reward, Leola Chambers, beloved citizen and friend, Friday, July 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her transition by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Leola Chambers was born December 15, 1941 in Greenville, Mississippi, to loving parents, M.J. Chambers and Irene Moore. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Jacob's Healing Temple. She was baptized under the leadership of the late Bishop J. Cook; and
WHEREAS, Her family and friends affectionately called Leola "Lil Bit", "Bitie" and "Bit", but whatever name they used they used it with love and affection. Leola graduated from Tilden Technical High School and continued her education at Northwestern University. She was a dedicated employee at Hart Schaffner Marx, Ketchum Inc. and freelanced as a fundraiser for political functions; and
WHEREAS, For over thirty years, Leola gave selflessly of her time and energies as a volunteer at Sherman Park Library. All people with whom she came in contact loved Leola Chambers. Her light-hearted and funny nature made people enjoy being around her; and
WHEREAS, Leola Chamber's memories will be cherished by sisters, Georgia (Duane) Entry and Carolyn (Leroy) Gatson; great uncle, James (Willie Mae) Dixon; uncle, Sylvester Moore; special nieces and nephews, Gregory, Maurice, Patrick, Kelvin, Duane, Kevin, Jack, Laurie, Tangie and Brassie; a special brother, Robert Henderson; special friends, Liz, Toni, Ms, Levi & Ms. Wiggins; god daughters, Pam and Ryan and a host of other relatives and many friends. Her mother, Irene Vivians, father, M.J. Chambers, sister, Mary Byrd and brother, Willie C. Chambers preceded her in death; now, therefore,
