WHEREAS, Alice Tittle has chosen to retire on June 17, 2011 after 38 years of faithful and dedicated service to the children ofthe Chicago Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Alice began her career in 1972 in Waterloo, Iowa teaching Science at the 6th grade level. She joined the Chicago Public Schools in 1973 teaching 3rd grade at Wendall Smith School, then moved on to teach 6th grade at Schiller School. At Funston School she taught 6th grade and functioned as the Librarian. She moved on to teach 7th grade at Vanderpoel School. At Dawes Elementary School, she finished her career teaching Science and then became Assistant Principal from 1995 to 2011; and
WHEREAS, She is a member ofthe Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Her personal interests include; Outings with friends and Sorority activities. She also enjoys fine dining in many restaurants; and
WHEREAS, Alice will retire from Dawes Elementary School after teaching for 38 years to spend more time with her family; daughter, Demetria; son-in-law Gregory, and three grandchildren, Kayla, Nyah, and Gregory Jr.; and now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this eighth day of June, 2011, A.D., do hereby express our congratulations and best wishes to Alice on the occasion of her retirement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Alice Tittle as a remembrance of this happy occasion.
