MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ALBERT "EDDIE" SULLIVAN

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of-this Chamber learned of the death of Albert "Eddie" Sullivan; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie has been a lifelong entertainer, beginning his singing career at the age of thirteen; and

 

WHEREAS, In High School, Eddie was the member of several singing groups, including The Four Gents and The Desideros, which went on to become The Chi-Lites; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie's enure family was dedicated to music. He and his two sisters formed a singing group, The Classic Sullivans. He wrote much of the music for the group, and later went on to write music for other singing groups as well; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie diligendy served his county through the U.S. Special Service Department where he lifted others up through music, singing and dancing for audiences all over the country; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie also contributed to the City's rich music history, bringing the Chicago Music Awards to die City, which ran for many years; and

 

WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Eddie was a member of Serendipity, a popular Chicago area group that he loved; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie touched the lives of all who knew him through his lively spirit, kind heart, and love of music. He will be deeply missed, but memories of him will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 1st day of November, 2016, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Albert "Eddie" Sullivan.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Albert "Eddie" Sullivan as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
