MEMORIAL
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Barbara Jean Ellis, a most beloved citizen, friend and towering figure in grateful community, has been called home by our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom chose, Monday, January 10,2010, to bring His precious daughter, Barbara Jean Ellis to her heavenly reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward and the Honorable Freddrenna M. Lyle, Alderman of the 6 Ward; and
WHEREAS, A precious flower was born in Chicago on the fifteenth day of May, to the loving union of Rovella Richards and Julius Cleo Hodges, they named her Barbara Jean. Barbara Jean was one of the two children who blessed this family; she shared a full childhood with her sibling and parents. She received her education from Herzl Elementary School, Hess Upper Grade Center, Farragut High School and received her BA and MA degree from Roosevelt University and her Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University; and
WHEREAS, Barbara matured into a young lady with an abundance of grace, charm, patience and wisdom and she soon captured the heart of the man who was to become her soul mate, Theodore Ellis, Jr. In August of 1970 Barbara Jean and Theodore were joined in Holy Matrimony and to this union three children were born, daughter, LaTonya Nicole, and two sons, Theodore III and Derrick. Barbara Jean and Theodore Ellis, Jr. blissfully shared many years of happiness and togetherness with each other and their wonderful children; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Jean Ellis will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend who enriched the lives of all who knew her in countless ways. She was a cherished friend and good neighbor to all. She will be deeply missed but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her and;
