ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Section 2-152-340 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby redesignated as Section 2-152-050 and is further amended by deleting the struck-through language and adding the underscored language as follows:

2-152-340 050 Residence restrictions.

All officers and employees in the classified career service of the city, including all employees of the Chicago Board of Education, shall be actual residents of the city. Any officer or employee in the classified career service of the city, including all employees of the Chicago Board of Education, who shall fail to comply with the provisions of this section shall be discharged from the service of the city and board of education in the manner provided by law; provided that employees of the Chicago Doard of Education shall have a two-year grace period from the effective date of this amendment, to comply with the residency requirements of this section.
