ORDER

 

WHEREAS, The City, and the 42nd Ward in particular, is currently experience a dramatic increase in drifting and drag racing, which has a serious deleterious impact on our communities and jeopardizes pedestrian and vehicular safety; and

WHEREAS, Traffic calming methods such as speed humps have been shown to combat drag racing and drifting as effective methods of controlling speeding; now, therefore

 

BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OR CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. The Commissioner of Transportation is hereby authorized and directed to install speed hump(s) as necessary at the below locations in furtherance of the recitals incorporated in this order:

42                     East Illinois Street from North Columbus Drive to North Jean Baptiste Pointe

DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Speed Hump Installation, All Times, All Days

SECTION 2. The Commissioner of Transportation is hereby authorized and directed to utilize aldermanic menu funds attributable to the 42nd Ward to fund such installations.
