ORDINANCE
Motor Row is defined as the historic district comprised of the three blocks fronting on South Michigan Avenue between East Cermak Road and the Stevenson Expressway; and
it is the goal of the City for Motor Row to become the "main street" and entertainment district for a revitalized neighborhood between East Cermak Road on the north , McCormick Place on the east, the Stevenson >Expressway on the south and the Dan Ryan Expressway on the west by providing a distinctive urban street scape; and
South Michigan Avenue from approximately Cermak Road to the Stevenson Expressway is characterized by distinctive multi-use commercial buildings with numerous storefronts and entrances abutting the sidewalks thereby promoting pedestrian traffic and enhancing pedestrian comfort and safety; and
it is the goal of the City to preserve the pedestrian environment by requiring new development to be built along the existing street wall and encouraging uses which are consistent and compatible with uses commonly associated with entertainment districts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. That the Chicago Zoning Ordinance be amended by changing all of the DX-3 and DX-5, Downtown Mixed-Use District symbols and indications as shown on Map No. 6-E in the area bounded by
East Cermak Road; the alley next east of and parallel to South Michigan Avenue; the alley next north of and parallel to East 24th Street; South Indiana Avenue; a line 75 feet south of and parallel to East 24th Street; a line 170.5 feet east of and parallel to South Michigan Avenue; a line 199 feet south of and parallel to East 24th Street; the alley next east of and parallel to South Michigan Avenue; East 24th Place; the alley next west of and parallel to South Michigan Avenue and the center line of said alley if extended south where no alley exists; the center line of the inbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway; a line 132 feet west of and parallel to South Michigan Av...
