RESOLUTION TO HONOR THE 25T" ANNIVERSARY OF FATHER THADDEUS (TED> DZIESZKO
WHEREAS, Father Ted was ordained as a priest in 1988, as the first priest from outside the City of Chicago to be ordained in the Archdiocese of Chicago; and,
WHEREAS, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin presided over his coronation ceremony where he celebrated his First Holy Mass at St. Constance Church; and,
WHEREAS, Father Ted's first parish assignment was St. Constance Church where he was witness to rewarding growth; and,
WHEREAS, Father Ted was then transferred to a six-month sojourn in Rome before serving at St. Ferdinand Parish. He then would be appointed to a six-year term as the pastor of 'Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish' in Cicero, Illinois. In Cicero he would serve as the Chaplain of the local police, fire department and the town of Cicero; and,
WHEREAS, Father Ted would oversee the endeavors of the 'Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish' to raise $2 million dollars in support of a renovation of the Parish; and,
WHEREAS, In 2003, Father Ted returned to 'St. Constance Parish' as its ninth and current pastor; and,
WHEREAS, Father Ted has served the northwest side, City of Chicago, and many people and communities in the surrounding areas for ten-years; and,
WHEREAS, Father Ted will celebrate his 25th - year in the priesthood in 2013; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this eleventh day of December, 2013 A.D., do hereby honor Father Thaddeus (Ted) Dzieszko on his 25 years of service to communities in need and to the City of Chicago; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Father Ted and 'St. Constance Parish'.
