RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING EVA H. POWERS

WHEREAS, Eva H. Powers recently celebrated her 100th birthday; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward, has apprised the members of the chamber of this remarkable woman's auspicious milestone; and

WHEREAS, Eva H. Powers was born on June 8, 1917. Her family is blessed with longevity; her brother Henry Collier is ninety-eight years old. She married the love of her life Jimmy Powers. They had three children: James Powers (deceased), Eva Powers (deceased) and Jimmy Powers; and

WHEREAS, Eva H. Powers lives in Springfield, Illinois. She has been a devout member of Holy City Baptist Church since 1969; and

WHEREAS, Eva Powers is a caring person and is dearly loved by family and all those who know her; and

WHEREAS, The family and friends of Eva Powers celebrated Eva's 100^th birthday with her on June 10, 2017; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 28th day of June, 2017, do hereby congratulate Eva H. Powers on her 100th birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Eva H. Powers as a token of our esteem and good wishes.
