RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson has announced his retirement as a Captain in the Chicago Police Department following forty-one years of distinguished service; and
 
WHEREAS, Captain Robert R. Johnson, Star #106, joined the Chicago Police Department on February 22, 1971, and will officially retire on November 15, 2012; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson began his illustrious career as a patrol officer in the Englewood District where he was assigned from 1971 through 1974; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson served for the following nine years as a Detective in the Gang Crimes West Unit for being promoted to the rank of Sergeant and serving with the 6th, 8th, and 25th Districts; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson continued to rise through the ranks, being promoted to Lieutenant in 1995 and assigned to the 9th District; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson earned the rank of Captain in 2001, and was assigned first to the 6th District and later to the 9th District from which he will retire; and
 
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Robert R. Johnson earned five department commendations, thirty-eight honorable mentions, ten physical fitness awards, and numerous other honors and ribbons; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert R. Johnson's exemplary professionalism and devotion to duty have been a testament to his character and an example to his fellow officers for more than four decades; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2012, do hereby congratulate Captain Robert R. Johnson on the occasion of his retirement and do hereby express our appreciation for his forty-one years of faithful service to the Chicago Police Department; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Captain Robert R. Iphnson.
