Title: Gratitude extended to Jacob Krueger for service in U.S.military

WHEREAS, Jacob Krueger was1 born in Mayfair and lived across the alley from his grandparents for the first five years of his life. He and his parents then moved to Naperville, but maintained close ties with their family in Mayfair; and,

WHEREAS, Shortly after his graduation from high school in 2006, Jacob felt a calling to serve his country. This led him to join the United States Army in 2007; and,

WHEREAS, Jacob's wife Megan also served a four-year enlistment in the Army. After serving at various Army Posts she went to Camp Casey in South Korea for one year where she was attached to the Second Infantry Division and returned to Fort Bragg N.C. in 2010. Jacob met Megan in August of 2011, and they married that same month; and,

WHEREAS, Jacob was deployed in May 2012, joining his unit in Afghanistan. Jacob was back on U.S. soil in August of 2012, just in time to welcome their new son, Kale Alexander born September 19, 2012; and,

WHEREAS, Jacob has served as a Paratrooper and achieved the rank of Sergeant; and
WHERAS, Jacob Kruger has been awarded the following medals and commendations for his service: Calvary Scout, 3rd squadron, 73rd Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82 Airborne Division Wings, Combat Action Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, National Defense Service ribbon, Global War on Terrorism ribbon, Army Service ribbon, 3-Army Achievement Medal, 2-Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge, and Driver/Mechanic badge; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this eighth day of November 2012, do hereby thank Jacob Krueger and his family for their service, heroism and sacrifice; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jacob Krueger.
