WHREAS, Being a Police Officer is an honorable yet often thankless profession. The Chicago Police Department's 17^th District serves and protects an area ofthe Northwest Side covering nearly ten square miles with over 150,000 residents with honor and distinction; and,

WHEREAS, The 17^th District has had many successes, especially during the last two years; and,

WHEREAS, two Tactical Officers assigned to the 17^th District have been nominated to receive the highest award granted by the Chicago Police Department for their outstanding courage and heroism this past year; and,

WHEREAS, on November 4, 2010, 17^th District Officer Tom Norberg saved the life of a two-year old child through his quick thinking and knowledge of first aid; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe Chicago City Council, gathered here this eighth day of November 2012, do hereby thank Chicago Police Department, 17^th District, for its service, heroism and sacrifice; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chicago Police Department, 17^th District.
