RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Bud Bertog's love of photography began 60 years ago, when as a young boy 14 years old, he started taking pictures at Loyola University's basketball games for the men's basketball team, the Loyola Ramblers, under the tutelage of Coach George Ireland; and
 
WHEREAS, Bud has continued as the photographer for Loyola's basketball team for the past 60 years working also with Coaches Jerry Lyne and Gene Sullivan, taking photos at both the home and away games for the Loyola Ramblers that the team uses for publicity and for Loyola's press book; and
 
WHEREAS, Bud was proud to be the photographer and share in the excitement when, in 1985, the Ramblers reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Men's Division; and
 
WHEREAS, During this time, Bud was also the chief photographer for the Chicago Park District for 35 years, taking pictures of everything from Lincoln Park Zoo, the parks throughout the City, Bears games and all events at Soldier Field, the Air & Water Shows where, one year, he was lucky enough to receive one of the batons from the Golden Knights Jumpers; and
 
WHEREAS, Bud is also known for taking breathtaking photos of fires in the Chicago area and Bud's photos have appeared in Newsweek, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, and Playboy; and
 
WHEREAS, Bud will be honored for his 60 years of dedication to Loyola and his love of photography during half-time of the Loyola Ramblers game on Friday, November 9, at the Gentile Center of Loyola on Chicago's lakefront; now, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor of the City of Chicago and members of the City Council, gathered in a meeting this eighth day of November, 2012, do hereby offer our sincere congratulations to Bud Bertog on this wonderful achievement; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation to Bud Bertog.
