Re: Results of Local Option Referenda at the November 6,2012 General Election
Dear Clerk Mendoza:
Enclosed is a certified copy of the Tabulated Statement of Returns and Proclamation of the Results ofthe Canvass of the Election Returns prepared by the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago in relation to the November 6, 2012 General Election. This Statement includes the results of three (3) local option referenda conducted pursuant to the Liquor Control Act of 1934 in the following wards and precincts: Ward 17, Precinct 29; Ward 36, Precinct 33; and Ward 39, Precinct 3.
According to Section 9-3 ofthe Act, a vote under its provision becomes operative on the 30th day after the day ofthe election at which such vote is cast.
The deadline for filing a contest to the validity of a local option referendum under the Section 9-19 of the Liquor Control Act is Friday, December 7, 2012 (the 10th day after the canvass proclamation). The deadline for filing a contest of the election results pursuant to Section 23-24 of the Election Code is Thursday, December 27, 2012 (the 30th day after the canvass proclamation).
We will notify you if we become aware of any actions contesting the validity or results of the election.
