BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
 
SECTION 1. Chapter 8-4 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by adding a new Section 8-4-160, as follows:
8-4-160 Unlawful use of a bus shelter.
  1. No person shall enter or remain in a bus shelter except while actually waiting for the arrival of the next scheduled bus routed to the person's destination.
  2. No citation mav be issued for a violation of this section unless the bus shelter has been posted with a sign that notifies the person not to enter or remain in the bus shelter except under conditions specified in this section and the sign that indicates the schedule of buses arriving at the bus stop associated with that shelter.
  3. This section does not prohibit any person from entering or remaining in a bus shelter in an emergency situation or for a brief period of time to seek protection from the elements.
  4. Anv person found in violation of this section shall be fined not less than $50 nor more than $200.
 
 
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in force and effect 10 days after its passage and publication.
