MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It was with great sadness that members of this chamber learned of the December 18, 2012 death of Carole M. Johnson and the December 19, 2012 death of her husband Arthur A. Johnson; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of their passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Art and Carole Johnson were active and vital members of their community. The loving parents of Mark (Susan) Johnson, the late Victoria (Mark) Plummer, Elizabeth (Jack) Varco, Andrew (Joan) Johnson, Jennifer (Scott) Phillips and Christina Johnson; cherished grandparents of Tyler, Lucas, Emma, Eric, Jeremiah, Justin, Aral, Erica, Harmon, Audrey, Noah, Blake, Jacob, Maxwell and Ethan; proud great-grandparents of Jonathan and a sibling to be due soon, Art and Carole leave a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Art and Carole Johnson, married for fifty-nine years, were inseparable in life and separated in death by only one day; and
WHEREAS, Art and Carole Johnson will be deeply missed, but the memory of their characters, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved them; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventeenth day of January 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the deaths of Arthur A. and Carole M. Johnson and extend to their family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur A. Johnson and Carole M. Johnson.
