CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER RALPH SCHAUF ON RETIREMENT FROM CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, Police Officer Ralph Schauf, Star # 2829, one of the City's most dedicated and loyal Police Officers, has retired from service with the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed ofthis occasion by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward, and the Honorable Richard Mell, Alderman ofthe 33rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Schauf was appointed a Chicago Police Officer on January 3, 1977; and

WHEREAS, Officer Schauf began his career in the 12th District Monroe Street, then joined the Special Operations Group and Gang Crimes North, the Intelligence Division with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in the 18th District Chicago Avenue and finally the 17th District Albany Park; and

WHEREAS, After his duration in the Special Operations Group and Gang Crimes North, he was assigned to the 18th District Community Policing where he worked with the Police Explorers and youth programs; and later, he was assigned to the 17th District Albany Park as the Community and Elected Official liaison; and
WHEREAS, Officer Schauf's career included the Education and Training Division, where he was the original "Red Man" in the physical skills section. While doing a scenario and control tactics training, he put on a protective red suit and was the subject the recruits had to control and place in custody; and
WHEREAS, Officer Schauf dedicated thirty-five years to the City of Chicago Police Department where his hard work and diligence will certainly will be missed; and
WHEREAS, Officer Schauf retired from the City of Chicago Police Department on November 16, 2012; and

WHEREAS, It is with great love and the support of family, wife Antoinette, son Ralph, daughter Adriane and granddaughter Olivia Ruth, which allowed Officer Schauf to excel in providing protection for the public at large with a kind heart; and
