A Special Tribute to New Progressive M.B. Church in Celebration of vour 15th Year Church Anniversary
WHEREAS, wc acknowledge and celebrate a man of integrity, undying love and compassion, Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr., who has unswervingly taught the members of New Progressive M.B. Church how to live with "A Clean Heart", followed by "A Right Spirit" which has ultimately led them in a direction of walking in complete holiness. What an awesome assignment. So for that reason and many more, I am assured God and the Angels in Heaven are shouting, "We are very pleased with thee!" and
WHEREAS, many are called but few are chosen - God could not have made a better choice than Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr. to shepherd the flock at New Progressive M.B. Church. Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr. exemplifies the faith of Abraham, ready to sacrifice whatever the Lord calls him to. A bondservant like Paul, committed to serving God despite cost; and he has a heart like David, he will always worship the Lord and always honor him as being God; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr. has diligently served the people of God in ways, so many others refuse to partake. Over the years, he has established extensive relationships with my 21st Ward Aldermanic Office and the Chicago Police Department to create strategies that will assist in reducing crime within our neighborhood and surrounding areas. Furthermore, he is an activist in his own right. On a number of occasions, Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr. has taken a stand by approaching men and young women hanging out on street comers partaking in activities that are not conducive for the area; on frequent occasions he assisted in the demolishing of hazardous properties and have walked many blocks to spread peace within the community where New Progressive M.B. Church stand. Not to mention, he stood by my side with a coalition of tfther pastors and leaders in my plight to create jobs for those within my ward. Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr., lifestyle reflects the character of someone with true purpose, nothing pretentious, and willing to use every breath from his natural body to meet the needs of God's people; and
WHEREAS, as you continue on your life-long journey of preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, know that the fruits of your labor are not in vain. Therefore, let me encourage you when I say, "your physical body may become tired, but your passion encourages others to work diligently in the Kingdom. Without hesitation I will say, I thank God for your faithfulness Reverend Lee; now and therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, will gather together on the 26th Day of June 2013, A.D., to share in congratulating Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr., of New Progressive M.B. Church and extend to his family and congregational members our prayers for your continual success in the coming years; and
BE IT FTJTRTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Reverend Herbert Lee, Jr.
