SALUTE TO DARLENE PAVLIK
 
 
WHEREAS, Darlene Pavlik, an outstanding public servant and member of her community, has retired after 37 years of service with this city; and
 
WHEREAS, After beginning her career in city government in 1974, she became an administrative assistant to 33rd Ward Alderman Richard F. Mell the following year. During the years that followed, she was his Landlord/Tenant/Building Court Advocacy Director, co-editor and reporter for the 33rd Ward's community newspaper, a coordinator for the 33rd Ward Graffiti Blasters and the founding director of the 33rd Ward Community Service Program; and
 
WHEREAS, In addition, Darlene Pavlik assisted with United States Census and Redistricting Map projects for the decennial years 2000 and 2010. From 2003 to 2007, she was the director of the Legislative Reference Bureau that drafts resolutions, ordinances and orders for all 50 Aldermen; and
 
WHEREAS, From 2007 until she retired, Darlene Pavlik was an Assistant Sergeant-at Arms for this legislative body. Her retirement leaves her more time to spend with her son David Pavlik; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard F. Mell, Alderman ofthe 33rd Ward, has apprised this august body of Darlene Pavlik's significant milestone; now therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 24th Day of July, 2013 AD, do hereby salute Darlene Pavlik for almost four decades of meritorious public service and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness and success in all her future endeavors.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to. Darlene Pavlik.
