TRIBUTE TO LAURA DENNIS ON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 28 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, Laura Dennis, an outstanding business professional and member of the community, has diligently served the Englewood community and the senior residents of Bethel Terrace for more than twenty-eight years; and
WHEREAS, Laura Dennis was born in Detroit, Michigan, but she was raised in Mississippi and Chicago. She was a graduate of Englewood High School and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. Laura also served three years in the Army Reserves; and
WHEREAS, Laura Dennis is certified as the Public Housing Manager, a Certified Accredited ARM Resident Manager, a Certified Occupancy Specialist, a Certified Manager of Maintenance, and a Certified Site Based Budgeting Specialist. She holds a Theory and Practice of Regulatory Code Enforcement Certification; and
WHEREAS, Laura Dennis was employed at Decatur Memorial Hospital as a medical secretary, at Decatur's East Side Housing and Economic Development Corporation as a housing counselor, at Decatur Housing Authority as Director of Resident Services, at South Bend Housing Authority as a Resident Affairs Consultant and at Disabled Adult Residential Enterprises. Ms. Dennis's last employment was as the Property Manager for Bethel Terrace, a 123 unit housing complex for seniors and disabled persons in the Englewood neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Laura Dennis, a loving mother of three, devoted grandmother of seven and a great grandmother of two will now have more quality time to spend with her family; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable JoAnn Thompson, Alderman of the 16th Ward has apprised this august body of the significant milestone of Laura Dennis; now, therefore
