CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ANTONIO PAEZ ON HIS 30in ANNIVERSARY CAREER IN RADIO



WHEREAS, For the past thirty years, Antonio Paez has provided entertainment and service to the Chicagoland community through radio; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Ray Suarez, Alderman of the 31st Ward; and
WHEREAS, Tony Paez, better known as the Iron Horse, was born in Ciudad Santiago, Barrio Nuevo, Dominican Republic, where he studied communications, earned his license and began his successful career as a radio announcer; and
WHEREAS, Tony moved to New York in 1962 where his profession took him into television as a host of different programs. While in New York, he also worked as a radio announcer and manager of a night club; and
WHEREAS, In 1978 Tony relocated to Chicago to work with Jose Salamanca in Buenos Dias Chicago, and in 1983 began working in El Show De Raul Cardona; and
WHEREAS, In 1989 Tony moved to Puerto Rico to work in Radio Caguas, and returned to Chicago in 1990 to join the legendary Spanish language radio pioneer, Elias Dias Y Perez, until 2002 when Elias passed. Through hard work and determination, Tony created his own show, Cabalgando Con y Por La Comunidad, airing on 1590 AM WCGO Monday through Friday from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.; and
WHEREAS, As well as being dedicated to his job and listeners, Tony is also a dedicated family man to his wife, Maria Luiza Oyola, and his daughter, Sasha Maria Paez. May his strong dedication to his job, as well as his family and friends, serve as an inspiration to us all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ray Suarez, Vice Mayor of the City of Chicago and Alderman of the 31st Ward, has apprised this august body of the noteworthy achievements and significant milestone of Antonio Paez; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that we, the Mayor and member of the Chicago City Council gathered here this thirteenth day of November, 2013, do hereby congratulate Antonio Paez on his wonderful thirt...
