MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of John E. "Jack" Sheridan on November 8, 2013, at the age of 86; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on July 17, 1927, Jack was the loving son of the late Austin and the late Ellizabeth, nee Frain; beloved husband of the late Mary A. "Maureen", nee Sweeney; faithful brother of those who travelled on before him: Bill (Betty Kempe), Peggy (Eddie Ryan), Nancy (Jack Lawler), Thomas and George; dedicated son-in-law of the late Francis and Bridget (nee Fergus) Sweeney; stalwart brother-in-law of the late Franklin Sweeney; cherished Father of John (Elizabeth Mason), Thomas, and Mary (Bekkali); doting grandfather of Deliah and llias El Bekkali; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and treasured friend of many; and
 
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of his community, Jack was a long-time parishioner of St. Edward's Church; proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War; loyal member of American Legion Tattler Post 973; retiree from People's Energy and a long-time friend of Bill W.; and
 
WHEREAS, Jack will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty sixth day of November, 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of John E. "Jack" Sheridan and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
