RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier will celebrate the joyful occasion of his One-Hundredth Birthday on December 24, 2013; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Born in 1913, Herbert S. Currier hails from a widely respected family with deep generational roots in Pelham, New Hampshire; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier was married for sixty-one years to the late Martha, nee Mansfield, a nurse who came from Vermont and met him while visiting New Hampshire; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier graduated from the University of New Hampshire and enjoyed a highly successful career as an educator; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier taught for much of his esteemed career in Littleton, Massachusetts; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier is a faithful member of the Congregational Church of Pelham where he sang for many years in the church choir; and
 
WHEREAS, A good neighbor and valued member of his community, Herbert S. Currier served as a Selectman in Pelham and was a volunteer firefighter; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier is widely admired for his boundless sense of humor and remarkable generosity and kindness toward others; and
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier is the much-beloved father of four children, Philip, Herbert, Sue and Nancy; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Herbert S. Currier is an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who is exceedingly worthy of our great respect and admiration; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of November, 2013, do hereby declare that December 24, 2013, shall be recognized as Herbert S. Currier Day in the City of Chicago and extend to him our heartiest best wishes and congratulations; and
