RE: Fundraising Model To whom it may concern:
Greenpeace's face-to-face fundraising model is based on monthly giving. When a member signs up with a face-to-face fundraiser, they are agreeing to ongoing monthly deductions from their bank account, debit card, or credit card. During 2012, our expense for face-to-face fundraising in Chicago was $408,542.50 and the total amount of income raised was $87,432.39. These figures represent only the exact amount of income and expenditure during the month and are not indicative of the profitability of this method of fundraising. There is a high initial expenditure (because we're paying for the initial staff time while fundraising) and in any twelve month cycle profit will appear to be a net loss, over time the program returns a net profit, because income from monthly contributors is ongoing. Our donors give between $17 and $20 on average on a monthly basis and the profitability of this fundraising method is realized months later.
