RESOLUTION CONGRATULATIONING THE PUERTO RICAN POLICE ASSOCIATION ON
THEIR 35 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, The Puerto Rican Police Association, founded in 1978 with the objective of assisting in the social, civic, cultural and economic development of its members and the Hispanic community, celebrated their 35th anniversary this year; and
WHEREAS, the organization has fostered a comradeship among police officers of Puerto Rican descent, providing professional and educational development, mentorship for new officers, and emotional support in an emotionally taxing profession; and
WHEREAS, the Puerto Rican Police Association has provided a stellar example of community cooperation by fulfilling its mission of fostering greater understanding between the Hispanic community and law enforcement agencies, and has acted as an accessible and active organization in the Puerto Rican community, serving as an organizational model for cooperation and understanding; and
WHEREAS, the members and affiliates have set an example for young men and women wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement in their community, truly embodying their motto of "Serving the community with pride and integrity"; and
WHEREAS, the Puerto Rican Police Association has shown dedication to the community by raising money for Esperanza Community Services since 2008, assisting in their initiative to provide Christmas gifts for children with developmental disabilities, and has contributed to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, extending support to the families of fallen officers across Chicago; and
