SALUTING THREE BROTHERS AUTO REPAIR
WHEREAS, Three Brothers Auto Repair, an outstanding auto repair shop and an icon in the Avondale neighborhood, is being honored for its success and involvement in the community; and
WHEREAS, Three Brothers Auto Repair opened in 1947 at Montrose and Sacramento, and in 1970, Joseph Thomas began working as an employee and became a partner an impressively short five years later. In 1979 he bought the business and moved it to its current location at 3722 W. Belmont Avenue in 1980; and
WHEREAS, Three Brothers Auto Repair is one of the longest running businesses in the area, starting as a business servicing cars and providing customer service amidst a rapidly growing post-war economy, and remains a relevant and vibrant part of the business landscape; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Arena, Alderman of the 45th Ward, and the Honorable Ariel E. Reboyras, Alderman of the 30th Ward, have apprised this august body of the accomplishments and importance of this community pillar; and
WHEREAS, In addition to serving the neighborhood as a mechanic, Mr. Thomas gives back to the community by holding fundraisers, concerts, puppet shows, art openings, and craft shows at his garage, and has been a resident of the 45th Ward for 38 years and is also an active member of Our Lady of Victory parish where he volunteers with SPRED, a religious education program for children with special needs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas is admired by the community for his generosity as a community member and integrity as a business owner; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 5th Day of February, 2014, do hereby salute Three Brothers Auto Repair and Mr. Joseph Thomas, and express our best wishes for outstanding continued success for decades to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Joseph Thomas, the owner of Three Brothers Auto Repair.
