RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE LIFE OF HAROLD BEACH

WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, God has granted eternal rest to Harold Beach on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, just one month before his 80th Birthday; and

WHEREAS, Harold Beach started his life's journey on February 21, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the fifth child of the seven children born to the late Lorenzo and Maggie Beach. His four brothers Lawrence, Lorenzo, John and Agene and his two sisters, Barbara and Zettla Marie brought an abundance of laughter and much happiness into the Beach Family home; and

WHEREAS, Harold received his education from Forestville Elementary School and DuSable High School. He was the captain of the DuSable Panthers basketball team when they won the State of Illinois Central Section Basketball championship. Harold received a basketball scholarship to Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and had been asked to try out for a position with the Harlem Globetrotters; and

WHEREAS, Harold was employed at Armour Dial Corporation, but was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army on January 4, 1957. He and the former Mattie Kelly were married on March 25, 1957 and in December 1958 he received an Honorable Discharge and returned to his former place of employment where his dedicated working abilities were once again applied and continued for the next forty-five years, until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Hal and Mattie were married for eighteen years and along with their children shared many memorable times together. After Mattie's transition that was November 5, 1975, Harold later met and fell in love with Emma Louise Hayes. They became husband and wife on August 24, 1977 and together have shared thirty-seven years of wedded bliss; and

WHEREAS, Harold, a lover of sports, especially basketball, will be remembered by his family, many friends and his neighbors for all the intriguing stories about his early family life. He was a hard worker and a saver of many old items, su...
