WHEREAS, Catherine (Robertson) Edwards will celebrate her eightieth birthday on March 24, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Catherine was born in Monroe, Georgia and raised by parents Mose and Claudia Robertson (deceased), along with six siblings, five sisters, Doris, Lucille, Geneva, Sarah and Marquerite; and one brother Hinton (deceased); and
WHEREAS, Catherine met James Edwards in Chicago, Illinois and married on December 11,1954, from that union three children were born, Michael, Carolyn and Tangie. She devoted many years as a loving wife, mother and homemaker, while also working outside of the home. On her life's journey she has always shared her uplifting spirit, generosity, and kindness, as well as her deliciously baked homemade pies with members of her family, and numerous friends. Whatever path life has taken her down, everyone she's encountered speaks only kind words about her. She is that "One in a Million" special individual you rarely encounter; and
WHEREAS, She has two loving son-in-laws Karl (Tangie) and Harold (Carolyn); and one daughter-in-law Krystal (Michael); and eight grandchildren, Quiana, Kelli, Naja, Michael II, Ashley, Christopher, Jorie and Kyle; and four great grandchildren Daivon, Ava, Deven and MacKenzie, and all have added to her joy with caring words and deeds; and
WHEREAS, Catherine richly deserves the warm and fond wishes from her many family members and friends as she marks her eightieth birthday; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this fifth day of March, 2014 A.D., do hereby extend to Catherine our best and happiest wishes on the occasion of her eightieth birthday; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Catherine (Robertson) Edwards.
