TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF MICHAEL TYRONE REED
 
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His Infinite Wisdom, has granted Michael Tyrone Reed, an outstanding public servant and member of his community, his eternal rest on March 24, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago on August 20, 1961, Michael Tyrone was the loving son of Lee and Georgene Reed. Michael and his two siblings brought laughter into the Reed Family home. In 1990 Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of Living Word Christian Center and St. Dorothy Catholic Church; and
 
WHEREAS, Michael graduated from Marcus Garvey Elementary School, Fenger High School and Illinois State University, receiving a bachelor of Arts in Economics. Michael developed a passion for running and enjoyed spending time on Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive; and
 
WHEREAS, On June 26, 1993 Michael married the love of his life, Edouida. Their union was blessed with three children: Lauren Ashley, Michael James and Noah-Christina; and
 
WHEREAS, In order to better provide for his family, Michael decided to take the civil service examination for the Chicago Fire Department. After passing the exam in November of 2012, Michael Tyrone Reed took on the brave and honorable task of working at the Chicago Fire Department as a proud member of the "Historical 111". Michael proudly stated that being a member of the Chicago Fire Department was one of his proudest moments; and
 
WHEREAS, Michael's most enduring legacy is his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
 
WHEREAS, Michael Tyrone Reed leaves behind to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his loving wife of twenty-one years, Edouida; children, Lauren, Michael and Noah; parents, Lee and Georgene; siblings, Lee Jr. (Deborah) and Crystal and a host of relatives and a community of extended family and friends; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward and Chairman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics has informed this august body of the passing of Michael Tyrone Reed; now therefore
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council gathered here this second day of April 2014 AD, do hereby commemorate Michael Tyrone Reed for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to all those who cherish his memory and mourn his passing.
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Michael Tyrone Reed.
