RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 100™ BIRTHDAY OF MARY BIBBS
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the City Council of the City of Chicago is herby informed of the observance of Mary Bibb's Centennial Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Mary Bibbs, born September 30, 1910 in Union City, Tennessee was the seventh child of nine children to bring laughter into her family's home. Her family moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri where she attended high school and eventually moved to Chicago, made it her home. She captured the heart of a young man, Plato, who was the love of her life. They were united in marriage and shared many years of Wedded Bliss; and
WHEREAS, Mary Bibbs met her husband, Plato, while twirling around the dance floor at Chicago's Savory Ballroom and has continued dancing through life, all the way to her Centennial Birthday, September 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Her family and many friends are gathering on her actual birthday, September 30th at Victory Centre of Roseland, 10450 S. Michigan Avenue in celebration of this momentous occasion; and
WHEREAS, Mary Bibbs, has long been a vital and highly respected member of her grateful community, spreading much love and good will to the young and the old. Throughout her fruitful life, Mary Bibbs earned the respect and friendship of many; and
WHEREAS, Mary Bibbs, a member of a rare group of centenarians, richly deserves the warm and fond wishes of her family members and friends as she marks her 100th Birthday on Thursday, September 30, 2010; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 6th day of October, 2010, A.D. do hereby join in the general tribute to Mary Bibbs as she celebrates her 100th Birthday in a life of great productive and generosity, and we offer our very best wishes for future happiness and fulfillment.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mary Bibbs.
