CDOT does not recommend stop signs on major streets because they increase the frequency of rear-end-collisions, and divert traffic to local streets. Therefore CDOT does not support installing stops signs at S. Kedzie Avenue and W. 54th Street - (14-00463394) [Or2013-605]
14      S. Spaulding Avenue; All Way Stop Sign, S. Spaulding Avenue and W. 51st Street.
Not Recommended on wide arterials such as W. 51st Street, could jeopardize pedestrian safety - (14-00463334) [Or2013-606]
