INTERGOVERNMENTAL VACATION ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago ("City") is a home rule unit of local government pursuant to Article VII, Section 6 (a) ofthe 1970 constitution of the State of Illinois and, as such, may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, the properties at 6150-6160 and 6220-6258 S. Halsted Street, 6151-6161, 6201-6243, 6150-6160, 6200-6242 S. Green Street, 814-824, 832-856, 900-912 W. 63rd Street, 6201-6243 and 6200-6248 S. Peoria Street, 6223-6255 S. Sangamon Street, are owned by the City of Chicago, a Municipal Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Department of Planning and Development proposes to assemble properties including the portion ofthe streets and alleys to be vacated; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Chicago, after due investigation and consideration, has determined that the nature and extent of public use and the public interest to be subserved is such as to warrant the vacation of part of the public streets and alleys described in the following ordinance; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1.
PARCEL 1:
THAT PART OF THE 16 FOOT WIDE NORTH-SOUTH PUBLIC ALLEY IN SAID BLOCK 1 IN CROCKER'S RESUBDIVISION OF THE SOUTH HALF OF THE WEST HALF OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION 17, TOWNSHIP 38 NORTH, RANGE 14 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, ACCORDING TO THE PLAT THEREOF RECORDED AUGUST 5, 1856 AS DOCUMENT 74312, MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING AT A POINT ON THE EAST LINE LOT 25 IN BLOCK 1 OF SAID CROCKER'S RESUBDIVISION 14.00 FEET NORTH OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER THEREOF; THENCE NORTH 01 DEGREES 33 MINUTES 26 SECONDS WEST, ALONG AN ASSUMED BEARING AND THE EAST LINES OF LOTS 25 THROUGH 36 (INCLUSIVE) IN BLOCK 1 OF SAID CROCKER'S RESUBDIVISION, 290.35 FEET TO A POINT ON THE SOUTH LINE OF WEST 63RD PARKWAY AS ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE RECORDED MAY 14, 1969 AS DOCUMENT 20841282; THENCE NORTH 38...
